Chapter 8
***** Wednesday *****
"Schuldig get the hell out of my room!" Heather hurled her hairbrush at the telepath who caught the brush and set it down on her dresser.
"What if I won't?" Schuldig smirked.
"Out!" Heather hissed.
"No," Schuldig leaned against the doorway and grinned at Heather.
"Fine," Heather turned her back on Schuldig and started to change.
"Aw, you're not even going to let me see your ass?" Schuldig complained as Heather made sure that her nightshirt covered her decently while she put her pants on.
"You're not seeing anything," Heather fastened her pants and took off the nightshirt to put on her bra and shirt.
"You're mean," Schuldig pouted but kept his distance.
"You're the one who wouldn't get out so I could change," Heather finished dressing and grabbed her books for class.
"Whatever, I still need my coffee," Schuldig moved into the doorway as Heather tried to leave the room.
"Why the hell are you so annoying??" Heather pushed past Schuldig and headed up the stairs.
"You react well, obviously," Schuldig followed and gave Heather's rear a light swat as they neared the top of the stairs.
"Oh go away," Heather put two pieces of bread in the toaster and got out the butter and jam.
"Morning," Brittany grabbed a glass of juice and drank it quickly. "See you after school!"
"Bye Britz," Heather smiled as she watched the other girl run out the door towards the bus stop.
"Would you please give Weiss a message for me today?" Crawford walked into the kitchen to get another cup of coffee.
"What message?" Heather took a cleanly folded piece of paper from Brad. "Can I read it?"
"If you wish," Brad poured the coffee and added sugar and milk.
"Oh, you're inviting them over to check on Youji and so you can try and explain something to them tomorrow?" Heather looked faintly surprised as she put the note in her pocket.
"In simple terms yes. You will have to make sure that Nicole and Cara are here as well," Brad walked to his desk and sat down again. "Schuldig, you have several things to do before you go to class, leave Heather alone for a few hours."
"But Brad..." Schuldig mock-whined as he walked over to take a piece of paper covered in neat writing from Brad.
"Just ensure that it has been completed," Brad ordered quietly as he flipped his laptop open. At that point Heather's toast popped up and she walked back to the counter to butter and jam it.
"Alright, I should have enough time to finish this," Schuldig quickly finished scanning the notes and walked out of the kitchen towards the door. "I'll be back in time to take you to class, Liebchen," He called as he waved.
"I thought I was the one driving..." Heather glared at the helpless piece of toast in her hand as she condemned it to painful torture and death in her stomach acid.
***** After Class *****
"So, Brad thought it might be nice for you to come up after dinner for some reason..." Heather smiled faintly back as she tried to ignore the nasty expression Nicole was aiming at her.
"I'm not going," Nicole growled and turned to leave.
"But we have to work on our project tonight, too!" Heather pulled her last card. "We have to have the outline in by Monday and we can do a better job and get higher marks if you come over and work with me."
"Grrr...." Nicole stopped walking away and gave the ground a dirty look. "I don't have a ride up so I can't."
"Hi, Nicole. Hi, Heather," Cara smiled as she walked over from where she'd parked her car. "I got off early so I thought I'd give you a ride home."
"Hi," Nicole smiled back a bit.
"Hey, Cara," Heather smiled at Cara. "Do you want to come up and visit Youji tomorrow evening? Brad wants all of us girls there 'cause he's having Weiss over for a bit."
"Ungya*...? Will I have to deal with anyone else?" Cara asked warily.
"Not if you don't want to," Heather's smile faded. "I think that's my job."
"Okay! As long as I don't have to deal with Farfarello or Aya or anyone," Cara grinned. "I'd love to see Youji again!"
"I'm sure you would..." Nicole glared at Heather.
"Can you give Nicole a ride up too? He wants everyone there at around six tomorrow," Heather made sure not to look directly at Nicole.
"Sure, I don't see why not," Cara looked at Nicole. "If Brad is still being a bitch I could beat him for you?"
"I'd like to see that," Nicole stopped glaring and smiled.
"Okay, I'll do that then," Cara grinned. "Sure I'd love to come up as long as I'm not going to be in any danger."
"Okay, That'll work great then," Heather smiled. "Brad might be happy with me for once!"
"I doubt it," Nicole raised an eyebrow. "Why would on earth would he want to try and be nice?"
"He will when I'm finished with him," Cara smiled evilly. "Really, who makes someone into a personal secretary with no pay just because she was sticking up for a friend?"
"Brad does obviously," Heather sighed. "Being the sadistic whore-bitch that he is..."
"I bet he'd cost a hell of a lot if he was a whore though," Nicole smirked. "Have to make a nice tidy profit after all. Anyone want to help me save up money?"
***** Thursday *****
"Nicole, please bring me my coffee," Brad was sitting in the living room calmly regarding the three Weiss standing in the doorway.
"Whatever you'd like, Brad," Nicole stressed his first name as she stood there and glared at him a moment before doing as she was asked.
"Why did you call us here Schwartz?" Aya growled.
"There you go Youji, you're looking better every time I see you," A smiling Cara helped Youji walk into the living room and sat him down on the big couch.
"Thank you, Cara-chan. I believe you're looking prettier every time I see you too," Youji sent the younger girl a radiant grin that caused her to blush.
"Youji must be fine, he's flirting like normal," Ken said in a loud whisper to Omi.
"Yep, just as big of a player as usual," Omi replied and walked to Youji to give him a quick check-over.
"Hey, stop wreaking my chances," Youji joked back and poked at Omi
"So our little kittens have arrived have they," Schuldig walked in from outside followed by Nagi.
"Answer my question, Crawford!" Aya was glaring death at Brad.
"I will in due time. A situation that requires both of our attentions has arisen and I thought it would be better to notify you in person," Crawford sipped at his coffee.
"Um... If you would all like to sit down Brittany and I have made some coffee and boiled water for tea..." Heather smiled uncertainly at the crowd of men in her living room.
"Tea would be nice," Omi smiled back and Ken nodded as he sat by Youji and Omi.
"Yo Crawford," Schuldig flopped down beside Brad on the small couch and Nagi took up his normal place at the computer. "We found out what you needed."
"Good," Crawford set his coffee down.
"Here you go," Brittany handed Youji, Omi, and Ken each a teacup filled with hot water and a small basket filled with tea bags for them to choose from.
"Thank you," Ken echoed the thanks of the others but smiled at Brittany for a few seconds to long.
"Oi, Ken, are you trying to imprint her in your memory?" Youji lightly punched Ken's shoulder and grinned. "You're not getting any ideas are you?"
"Would you like some too Nagi?" Brittany was grinning as she turned to the younger boy.
"Please," Nagi was idly watching the other team of assassins and nodded his thanks when Brittany brought him a teacup.
"Here," Omi had gotten up and was smiling at Nagi as he offered the basket of tea bags.
"Thank you," Nagi blinked in surprise and took the basket.
"Aya, would you like some tea?" Nicole asked.
"If it is not too much trouble," Aya's manners took over and he sat stiffly on the end of the couch Weiss had claimed.
"Not at all," Nicole smiled and brought him a teacup. Nagi helpfully floated the tea basket over to Nicole and she handed it to Aya.
"Thank you," Aya chose a Tea bag and began to mix it into the water.
"Here," Heather glared at Schuldig as she slammed his coffee down beside him. "If you ever send me an image like that when I'm pouring something hot your next coffee will end up down your pants," Everyone stared at Heather.
"So I can send you them to you when you're not?" Schuldig smirked evilly and moved to lightly slap Heather's ass as she turned to stomp away.
"Schuldig, behave," Brad snapped and grabbed Schuldig's wrist as Brittany quickly moved towards the sun room after Heather.
"Ja whatever, Bradly," Schuldig let his hand drop and leaned back into the couch.
"So what is this situation?" Omi prompted Crawford as it did not seem that they were going to get anything out of him otherwise.
"Heather while you're over there could you please let Farfarello out," Brad ordered. Brittany walked quickly back into the living room and sat by Cara, Farfarello followed shortly after and seated himself in a chair Heather moved from the dining room table to be near where Brad was sitting.
"Now that we are all here I will explain. On Sunday Schuldig and I went to a meeting with an old acquaintance of mine. He happens to be a rouge Estet member who escaped the fall of the elders," Brad sipped his coffee. "He gave us an ultimatum, Schwartz could join the organization he is building and boost his own psychic powers or we could wait for him to hunt us down and destroy us."
"Which option did you take?" Aya asked suspiciously.
"I turned down the offer of joining of course. I did not destroy the elders only to become another fanatic's henchmen," Brad gave Aya a cold look for even implying that he would have accepted. "However one of the bribes he offered in an attempt to convince us to join him was the chance to destroy you. He finds your mission here a hindrance to his plans
"What are you trying to hint at Schwartz?" Aya glared.
"A truce," Brad stared levelly at Aya. "On our own we do not have enough strength to defeat his group and neither do you, both of our teams would be eliminated. If you would accept a truce and both of our teams were to work together then there is a greater possibility that we would be able to eradicate his group."
"Never! I will not ally myself with Schwartz!!!" Aya nearly dropped his tea cup as he instinctively reached for his sword.
"You've faced Estet before and won, but this group is much more efficient and better organized. This man is equipping an army big enough to take out major world powers." Crawford handed Omi a folder. "Here is the research we have on them so far."
"You won't get far against that, Weiss," Schuldig snickered.
"Aya, think for a minute about what he is saying," Omi flipped through the folder as he spoke to Aya. "Looking at the research this new Estet or whatever is powerful enough to take both our groups out. If we do not accept his proposal then all of us are likely to die."
"Omi is right Aya, there isn't much of a choice left for us," Ken looked up from the folder and matched Aya glare for glare as the redhead turned towards him. "Unless you would like to sacrifice Weiss."
"If you need time to think it is not a problem," Brad smoothly diverted Aya's anger before a fight could start. "This other group does not seem to be in any hurry to wipe us out."
"We are leaving," Aya snapped. "Youji will be coming with us and there will be no truce." The rest of Weiss sighed and resigned themselves to a fight of some sort.
"I am afraid I cannot allow that," Brad stood and faced down Aya. "Youji's injuries are too bad for him to risk being transported, he must stay here for now. Your only chance at survival is joining with us."
"He is leaving with us," Aya narrowed his eyes further at Crawford. "And there will be no deal."
"Fujimiya-san, if you do not agree to the deal," Brad glared down at Aya, "the blood of the four girls you see here will be on you hands." Aya growled and stomped out of the house before his control slipped further.
"We will be in touch and I apologize for Aya's behavior," Omi smiled at the girls as he followed Aya. "Thank you for the tea. We will see you soon hopefully, Youji."
"You should probably get some rest, Youji," Cara moved to the end of the couch.
"It was very nice," Ken smiled mostly at Brittany as he got up to leave with the others.
"You're welcome," Heather smiled at them.
"Please come back and visit again," Brittany waved and smiled.
"I have a headache, Heather where is your Tylenol?" Nicole stood from where she had been sitting at the table.
"In the hall closet, top shelf," Heather pointed.
"Thank you," Nicole moved to get the bottle.
"Would you give me one as well please," Crawford stood and headed towards the closet.
"There's only one left and it is mine!" Nicole glared up at Crawford and clutched the bottle to her chest.
"Give me the pill," Brad growled back.
"Mine! Go buy your own!" Nicole turned away from Brad.
"Give me the damn bottle!" Brad yelled as he put a hand to the side of his head.
"Um... Cara, you get everyone outside, okay?" Heather got up and headed for the stairs.
"But..." Cara gave the two yelling people an alarmed look.
"Just get them out," Heather ran downstairs to grab the bottle of Tylenol she kept in her room.
"Hai," Cara started herding the rest of Schwartz outside with Brittany's help and helped Youji walk out into the yard. Heather ran back upstairs with her bottle and stared at Nicole who was trying to keep the other bottle out of Crawford's reach.
"Um... Here Nicole!" Heather tossed her the bottle.
"Alright, a new bottle!" Nicole threw the old bottle at Crawford and ran for the sunroom.
"Hey, I need one more!" Brad pushed roughly past Heather as he followed Nicole.
"Oh my god..." Heather sighed as she walked outside and put her shoes on.
"So what do we do now...?" Brittany stared into the house which was still resonating with yelling as they fought over weather Crawford was getting another pill or not.
"We go to the park," Heather decided. "Oh... Weiss is still here?" She noticed Ken propping Youji up in the side of the yard.
"Yeah, they hadn't quite left when we evacuated," Cara answered. "Are they coming too?"
"f they want," Heather sighed, "but you're going to have to drive him. I don't think anyone is safe if they stay here."
"Alright," Cara got out her keys and moved to Youji. "You're going to drive with me."
"We're all going to go to the park and give those two a chance to calm down," Heather started collecting the rest of the group and moving them towards the road down to the park. "So, let's get going then."
"I will not go with Schwartz," Aya glared at Schuldig and Farfarello.
"Then you can sit on the lawn until we come back, Aya." Ken smirked. "I have the keys and I want to go."
"I found a soccer ball!" Brittany announced happily as she came running up from the shed with her new toy.
"Lets go," Heather winced as the yelling inside went up several decibels.
* Cara's random noise that she makes, much like Kenshin's trademark 'Oro...?'
